I had another trip to the hospital today for confirmation of how my bone is healing. I went on Friday and a new doctor told me I needed 2 more weeks (I’d gone hoping they’d tell me it was fixed), so today I really wasn’t getting my hopes up. I couldn’t believe it when the doc told me its fine, I felt like hugging him! It doesn’t feel completely normal but that’s due to lack of movement rather than because its still broken, so some stretching will soon sort that out.
It seems like forever that I’ve been dreaming of leaving the hospital with a smile on my face since every other time I’ve come out fighting tears and feeling really depressed! I rushed home and was straight out on the bike – felt so good! No problems on rocky trails either. Its great timing - I’ve a few days off lectures, its 28 degrees outside, the trails are dry and dusty… alpine heaven! 3 day forecast for Vaduz:
28°C 31°C 31°C

My next race is the Racer Bikes Cup in 3 weeks so plenty of time for getting back to full fitness. Hopefully I haven’t lost too much since the last two weeks I’ve been back to full training but on flat roads – enough to stay sane but only just! I don’t think I could be a roadie, at least not here when there are so many great mtb trails to be ridden. I’m going to have to get back into some weight lifting though – after a month of doing nothing my arms going to be pretty weak.
