As of last Tuesday my knee seems to be back to normal so I’ve been getting stuck into training to try and get back to fitness as quickly as possible. Its such a relief and great to be back on the mountain bike -especially as its turned to summer with 20 degrees and sun for the last few days! After nearly a month of disruption I really need to work on high end fitness though, I’ve done hardly any race specific training.
Tomorrow I’ll be doing the Swiss Power race but treating it as a training session. I’ve ridden the course a few times now, it seems to get harder each time! the climb is so long and steep, and riding the descent at pace needs a lot of energy too so there is little chance to recover. Its very much about fitness and 8 laps will be a bit of a killer!
There are 43 Elite Females entered – the most I’ve ever raced against is 12! The atmosphere is great, 100s of bikes, huge vans from all the big bike brands and pro teams, loads of spectators etc. All very exciting but a bit scary at the same time!
